Lake Zumbro: The bite has been pretty good this past week. There has been lots of boating activity, especially on weekends. Crappies and bluegills are coming more consistently near shorelines, but some are still being found in deep water. Crappie minnows, waxies or worms, and small jigs will work. There are also some nice sized northerns being caught by accident when fishing for crappies. With all the recent rain, the lake level will come up and make the water dirty. The fish will still be there though!
Foster Arends Lake: Still producing some very nice trout and panfish. A variety of bait is being used including minnows, waxies, power bait, and flash type lures.
Chester Woods: Reports keep getting better. Some decent bluegills and crappies are being caught. Look around submerged wood. Largemouth Bass are also being caught with some large ones, but mostly smaller ones.
Willow Creek: Producing some nice bluegills and some crappies. Small jigs, crappie minnows, waxies or worms will work.
Country Club pits: Producing some nice sunfish and crappies. Evenings seem to produce the best fishing. Try small jigs, minnows or worms. Some nice bass are also being caught.
Game Haven: Fishing has slowed down, but still producing bluegills, crappie, and bass. Small jigs, crappie minnows, waxies or worms will work.
Mississippi River backwaters: Some of the traditional areas like West Newton, Wilcox, The Dike Road, Finger Lakes, and some of the harbors are starting to produce nice crappies and bluegills. Best areas seem to be around submerged wood. Small jigs, crappie minnows, waxies or worms will work. Some northerns are also being caught on sucker minnows or larger spoons.
