Lake Zumbro: The bite has been better some days and not so great other days this past week. With this colder weather the fish have moved deeper, but some are still being caught shallow around submerged wood or docks. With the warmer weather predicted for this coming week, look for the fish to move into the shorelines more. Crappie minnows, waxies or worms, and small jigs will work. There are also some nice sized northerns being caught by accident when fishing for crappies. Heard of a 44 inch northern caught and released this past week.
Foster Arends Lake: Still producing some very nice trout. A variety of bait is being used including minnows, waxies, power bait, and flash type lures. Small panfish are also being caught.
Chester Woods: Some decent bluegills and crappies are being caught. Look around submerged wood.
Willow Creek: Producing some nice bluegills and some crappies, usually a little deeper water. Small jigs, crappie minnows, waxies or worms will work.
Country Club pits: Producing some sunfish and crappies.
Game Haven: Producing quite a few fish at times, although they tend to be on the small side. Small jigs, crappie minnows, waxies or worms will work.
Mississippi River backwaters: Some of the traditional areas like West Newton, Wilcox, The Dike Road, Finger Lakes, and some of the harbors are starting to produce nice crappies and bluegills. Small jigs, crappie minnows, waxies or worms will work. Some northerns are also being caught on sucker minnows or larger spoons.
