Lake Zumbro: The bite has picked up very well this past week. Fish are coming near shorelines and close to submerged wood. The fish have started to make a movement toward the shallow water, but may still be deep on post cold front days. Crappie minnows, waxies or worms, and small jigs will work.
Foster Arends Lake: Still producing some very nice trout. A variety of bait is being used including minnows, waxies, power bait, and flash type lures. Small panfish are also being caught.
Chester Woods: Finally starting to give a hint that there are some decent fish to be caught. Look around submerged wood.
Willow Creek: Producing some nice bluegills and some crappies, usually a little deeper water. Small jigs, crappie minnows, waxies or worms will work.
Country Club pits: Producing some sunfish and crappies.
Game Haven: Producing quite a few fish at times, although they tend to be on the small side. Small jigs, crappie minnows, waxies or worms will work.
Mississippi River backwaters: The traditional areas like West Newton, Wilcox, The Dike Road, Finger Lakes, and some of the harbors are starting to produce nice crappies and bluegills. Small jigs, crappie minnows, waxies or worms will work. Some northerns are also being caught on sucker minnows or larger spoons.

Trout fishing is going well! Stop by HOF for all your fishing needs. We are located 1 1/2 miles north of the 37th St. and North Broadway intersection.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Fished Lake Zumbro again yesterday afternoon. The crappies I got shallow Wednesday have either gotten a severe case of lock jaw or completely vacated the area. We were still able to catch fish, but it was a one here one there kind of night .

But with the recent weather pattern, that was pretty much expected.

    (edit)

Almost forgot…….I had carpzilla hooked last night. Biggest freakin gold fish I’ve ever seen/hooked/shot/or otherwise out there . Apparently they like those little paddle tails too . He was on the surface a couple different times, but with no net to nab him with, he finally straightend the hook on one of his runs…….bummer

Then the 213 must be from birth, right? But then again, Jake is smarter than I am and spends a lot more time on the water than I do. Fish On Jake! =)

    Ouch……below the belt

Truth be told, I try not to pad the count too much with those pesky little panfishes……but ya know how it is, sometimes I like to take the easy way out
