Lake Zumbro Update

I fished Lake Zumbro today for crappies mid afternoon til about 7:30 tonight and it was slow. Everyone I talked to mostly had a couple or none. The water tempos have dropped from two weeks ago and were only 50-53 degrees with most of the water being 50-51 degrees. A plain hook and splitshot with a crappie minnow under a bobber will catch a few but it seemed like trolling a jig and minnow did the best. Some fish were 3 feet under the surface and some were more towards the bottom. No real consistant pattern could be put together. Hopefully the rain will stay away and with warmer air temps the rest of the week it should start picking up.

    Thanks, Bill

Plain hook and split shot? I usually have better luck when I put some bait on the hook. Thanks for the report.

fished mon. 2 of us caught 63 crappie’s took home a limit of 10. Fished slip bobber with minnows 16 to 18 foot. Talked to two guy comeing off the same time we were and they had 2 limits and got them shallow. There are fish out there. We also got checked by our friends DNR. Jim

    Hey Jim,

Thanks for the update! Sounds like the fishing is getting much better and the fish are starting to move into shallower areas.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Did quite well on the lake this morning (notice significant rise in TFC ).

Casting small jigs w/ plastics right next to the shoreline structure got em going. NO bait and NO bobber required . Color didn’t seem to matter as much as getting the bait right up tight to the cover.

It’ll be interesting to see what this cold front does to em

sorry for the bad picture, I was by myself and it was the best I could do

Jake, Jake, Jake, just a few ”small” panfish? Keep practicing Bud and you will catch bigger ones someday.

    [thanks for the report ]
