The biggest change since last week is that fishing seems to be improving on almost all the area waters!

Lake Zumbro: The shorelines with steep drops seem to be the best areas producing some nice crappies and bluegills, but submerged wood is also producing some fish. The fish will be at varying depths, so you will need to do some work to figure out where they are at on any particular day. As the water warms up, they will tend to be shallow much of the time. Crappie minnows, waxies or worms, and small jigs will work.
Foster Arends Lake: Still producings some very nice trout. A variety of bait is being used including minnows, waxies, power bait, and flash type lures. Small panfish are also being caught.
Chester Woods: Still been slow, but the fish being caught are nice size.
Willow Creek: Producing some nice bluegills and some crappies, usually a little deeper water. Small jigs, crappie minnows, waxies or worms will work.
Country Club pits: Producing some sunfish and crappies.
Game Haven: Producing quite a few fish at times, although they tend to be on the small side. Small jigs, crappie minnows, waxies or worms will work.
Mississippi River backwaters: The traditional areas like West Newton, Wilcox, The Dike Road, Finger Lakes, some of the harbors are starting to producing crappies and bluegills. Small jigs, crappie minnows, waxies or worms will work.

Trout fishing is going well! Stop by HOF for all your fishing needs. We are located 1 1/2 miles north of the 37th St. and North Broadway intersection.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

    Hey Jake,

Ron and I hit Lake Zumbro today. It was a tough bite and the fish were deep. We did get a few nice bluegills. A couple weeks of warmer temps would really kick things into motion! We’ll need to get out there soon!

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

What were the water temps Bud? The week after next week I’m looking for a commitment of some evening fishing on Lake Zumbro Mike. [hint hint] Okay? Ron you too. Okay?

Jake, will you be using the new boat bought last year or will you be in a different new rig? If so, what kind?

Mike, can I talk you into sharing your new hours so we know what they are so we can come out and bug you.

    Thanks, Bill

We are back to our old hours!
    Mon-Fri – 6 a.m. – 6 p.m.
    Sat – 5 a.m. – 5 p.m.
    Sun 6 a.m. – 4 p.m.

We gotta go soon! I think the water temps are low 50’s and need to get closer to 60 before things go wild, but if you fish slow and deep, there are fish to be caught.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

    Nope….this is MY new boat

16′ camoclad polarcraft with 30hp mariner pushin it. It’s in duck hunting mode right now, but I plan to fix it up into more of a fishing rig soon……build a casting deck, add some rods holder, ect.

Jake is my hero too. When I grow up I want to be just like Jake. Go to college to fish and come home to fish. Man, what a life.
    Thanks, Bill
