Mike/HOF and I hit a local resevoir this afternoon and were met with some success. Which one, well, right now, they are all very good, pick your favorite. Lots of Crappies and Bluegills. Several keepers, however, we only kept 7 for a meal. Mini Mites and no need to tip them. Fished under a float almost five feet down. The wind was our friend today and provided just the right enticing chop that triggered the smacks. The spring time bite IS HERE, so get out there and take advantage.

It was a nice day RHW. Ashley and I decided to try something different today. We joined up with our friend from kellog and went shore fishing for notherns with spoons. First we tried one of the bridges on the dike road, had one on but lost it. Then we went to west newton, no luck, then to smokers bridge. I had one on but lost it . Happy fishing all…… Troy Pike

Spent the weekend working [not fishing] the Lake Pepin Open Walleye Classic and also worked the Smittys Marine boat displays at the boat show in Red Wing. Now I have nothing but fishing on my mind. Anyone get to to Lake Zumbro this past weekend?
    Thanks, Bill

Yes it was a fun day to be out! The fish were cooperating, the weather was good, the company was great!
The local waters are really kicking into high gear for panfish!

    Anyone else have any reports?

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Tried some one handed crappie fishing on the zumbro today. Took some advice from a friend as to where to fish. This guy also runs a bait shop. We got two limits of fish plus some that were released right away. Had a good day out there, got wet and a little cold. It dropped 10 degrees while we were out there. This one handed fishing takes a little to get used to. Good advise Mike oops there goes my secret Now to fillet one handed Jim

Gee, he never gives me any fishing tips. Care to share your new found wisdom of techniques, structure and lures?
    Thanks, Bill

You got the boat ready? I’ll need to give you a full guided tour of all the spots they are biting at!

    Good Fishing,

Have you heard of any evenings this week without rain? Have my oldest son coming this weekend and I will probably be up on the Mississippi River the last half of next week. What are you hearing/seeing for water temps?
    Thanks, Bill

Wednesday and Thursday nights don’t look bad. Gotta a real bad crappie itch that needs to be taken care of. Hows that song go – Give me a home where the crappies do roam….etc. Jon boat is ”always” ready and the Lund is ”almost” always ready. You haven’t been in the jon boat yet and we need to fix that problem don’t we?!!
    Thanks, Bill

ps. Troy, are you selling your jon boat and trailer to get a new one? If so let me know and I’ll get you a good deal on a new one. Same for anyone else.
