I am definitely ready for the open water season. I don’t ice fish and I wasn’t able to get out fishing last year since August. I am waaaaaaaaay overdue. Last week I did some spring cleaning and tossed out a bunch of old fishing magazines. With so much information available on the web, who needs a magazine subscription anymore? Next week it’s going to be getting warm enough to start cleaning out the garage and sorting through my tackle for the upcoming season. I know some of you guys have already started that process, but I’m waiting for smallie season so I’ve got to wait longer than you walleye bangers. I might have to sneak south of the borger and check out them Iowa smallies.

Thats what im waiting for. When the water gets to around 45 degrees they start hitting pretty good. lots of nightcrawlers this time of year and behind a little joe spinner they work good. A slow dragged crawfish over rocks works good too.
