Yes, believe it or not, I actually taught Mike/HOF something about icefishing today. The last two days we went over by Alma for some pannies and met with some nice success both days. Taking meals home each day. Well today the bite was really lite. One had to really concentrate and watch very closely for the slightest indication of a tick or twitch. I catch a nice bluegill and have it laying by my feet. Then Mike gets a huge crappie and has it sitting by his pail. I picked up my gill, walked over and sat it down by his pail. Picked up his crappie and walked back and sat if down by my pail. He gives me this funny look and I explained that I wanted peope to think I caught the biggest one. A little later, any fish I had caught, including his crappie, I threw over by his feet. After a few minutes he says, hey, why do I have all the fish over here. I simply explained, that while fishing, I didn’t want to be pestered by others walking over and asking me all kinds of questions about what I was doing and what I was using. Told him there was a method to my madness. Again, I got a funny look from him, like what did I think I was doing? Well guess what? It was 20 minutes when an old timer walked our way. He looked at me as if to say, you are a dude and you have a dead hole. Never said one word to me, rather walked directly over to Mike and started jabbering away for 15 minutes, thus making Mike loose his concentration. Hey a guy has to do what a guy has to do to keep up with Mike.
Oh did I tell you, Mike kicked my behind both days, with the most and the biggest. Yep I got a method alright.

Great story! I’ll have to remember the throwing the fish to the partner trick.

ps. How come Mike always takes you to the good hot spots and takes me to where they aren’t biting?
