The forcast calls for highs in the 20s and lows in the one digit to teens for next week so we should start seeing some ice being made. Since its now winter we might as well get the ice so we can ice fish which helps to make spring come by quicker. I love open water but can’t wait that long without fishing so give me some good solid ice and then warm up a bit so we can enjoy ice fishing outside. Thanks, Bill

Hey Mike, you are right. The forcast has changed. I got my info from accu weather for the Rochester area. It will warm up by the weekend to mid 30s to upper 30s it shows for Rochester. But then getting cold again come the following Monday. The mid 40s that you mentioned would be nice for open water fishing. The weather guys just can’t get it right it seems-changing all the time. Thanks, Bill

I’m looking at a couple weather forecasts and they have some fairly cold weather predicted for making good ice. I’m ready for some ice fishing!!!

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

I think Mike has been ready for ”Ice Fishing” since last years season ended. Ice is ”another” excuse for him to sneak away to go fishing. Of course we can’t blame him now can we?
    Thanks, Bill

With this roller coaster weather we are experiencing, is our so called first ice just going to happen to coincide with last ice? When ice does get here, better hurry up cause the season will only last a couple weeks. I know what it is, it is that global warming they have been warning us about.

Well Ron with this cold spell we have right now [BRRRRR] hopefully it will make some good ice. Think I heard only 4 degrees above tonight and thats reg temps so it will be even colder with the windchill figured in. It is darn right cold outside. Brrrrrrrrrr. We aren’t use to this yet. And even when it warms up in a couple days to around 30s it still means the lows are below freezing which means ice is still being made. So hang in there Buddy as ice is coming. Thanks, Bill

WOW!!! 4 degrees this morning! It should be making ice and hopefully we can get a good few inches before any snow covers it.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Well Mike, I think that will be the secret to really GOOD ice. The kind that is crystal clear, rock hard with no snow mixed in it. After a few clear inches, then just a dusting of snow so one can walk and not slip and slide.

With the overnight temp on Saturday night of below zero and then some highs in only the teens next week it should be making ice for sure. I hate cold weather, but making ice temps is what I put my order in for so we can finally get some good ice so once we have some nice safe ice then I will order some warmer temps so we can all handle being outside ice fishing. With a Fish Trap Scout and a good heater I figure I’ll be pretty warm out there so ice fishin this winter should be FUN!!! Come on ICE!!! Have a great ice fishin season everyone! See ya on the ice!
    Thanks, Bill

With the cold temps highs around zero for the Rochester area the next few days, you can guess what the lows will be- Brrrrrr] we should see some good ice being made. I have heard maybe 30 plus degrees on Sunday so warmer temps are coming after this cold snap is done which means bareable temps to get out and enjoy the newly formed ice. Ice fishing helps to make winter go faster so if you don’t care much for ice fishing you are missing out on some winter fun that also makes spring come faster. And best yet-its ”fishing.” Have a great ice fishing season everyone. And please be carefull as no ice is really safe ice. Thanks, Bill
