Where is everyone planninmg on Ice Fishing this winter? Its almost here, maybe, lol. Our colder temps forcasted for next week have warmed up to high 30s and low 40s as of last night. Mother nature is playing games with us-keeps teasing me to take the jon boat out one week with warmer temps then teasing me to get the ice fishing gear ready with colder temps. Always did have problems with women, lol. [sorry gals, couldn’t resist. lol.] Thanks, Bill

Don’t think i’ll be making it up to Rochester to ice fish, but i definetly will be chasing Bull ‘gills and Slab Crappies here on Lake Onalaska with Watson. Then i’m gonna show BlueFleck a thing or two taking ‘eyes and sauger’s below the dresbach dam. I’d also like to fish more on Neshonic and a few other area’s on the Mississippi..
Can’t wait til the PDC GTG as well
December 5, 2004 at 5:01 pm #330394For me it will be Foster Arends which is only a couple miles away from where I live. Mississippi River back waters also sounds good with Mike/HOF and RHW as my guides-I want to catch fish. And am open to othere areas too. Up graded all my ice fishing equipement last year [last winter] so am anxious to try everything out. HOF [fishing goodies] and Jolly Marine [electronis] on this site have lots of nice ice fishing goodies. Just need good solid ice and then some decent temps after we get good ice to get outside in. Gee, do I sound like I want my cake and eat it too? lol. And of course throw in some fish too! Thanks, Bill
December 5, 2004 at 11:22 pm #330403I am looking forward to hitting Lake Onalska with Slop and if we can get johnl free, he might join us as well The dam at Dresbach is also a blast, if it gets cold enough this year . I would like to expand my horizons this year and find different places to fish. I would really like to find some good walleye lakes not too far from home. I missedthe IDA get together last year at PDC, but I am not going to miss it this year or the BlueFleck invitational.
December 7, 2004 at 1:22 am #330572Hey Slop Bass, few years back we used to ice fish down your way. French slough by the rest stop on I-90, off the airport runway, Red Sails, Nut Hatch Bay, then there was a park just south of LaCrosse, think they called it Goose Island or something like that and went further south to the flats that provided line snapping crappies. Are those areas still hot?
Probably will start with my favorite first ice haunts, Wilcox, Dike Road, West Newton, Wabasha Harbor and some of the backwater sloughs south of Dairyland Coop on the Wisconsin side, south of Nelson.
Have always been interested in checking out the Trempealeau area as have heard good first ice reports coming out of there. Then there were always good reports coming out of the Reno Bottoms area? Comeon guys, give up some reports from that area.December 7, 2004 at 12:11 pm #330592All those areas still produce fish. I fish the Reno bottoms area out of a boat and through the ice. Sadly almost all of our ice is gone. We were out trapping over the weekend and there was almost enough ice to walk on. Once the ice takes shape and is good enough to hold a guy like me, look forward to hearing and seeing some reports.
December 7, 2004 at 2:08 pm #330602I’ll be looking at some of the small back water areas like Half moon, or Thorps to start with. Then start fishing the larger areas as they start to freeze up. Like trailer point on Pepin, the pond up at Frontinac, and the dike rd.etc. The excitement is there we just need some ice. See yall out there!

never fished the backwaters so maybe lake Onalaska with the old man and the Alma area. Pretty soon I’m gonna have to start asking Someone to teach me to walk on water
