Welcome to the site. I have heard about the Buzz Sticks but have never used one. Hopefully as the ice season gets going someone will be able to give a report on them. Has anyone ever used one? Thanks Bill
My brother, the pikester, bought one this year so we could try it out and see if they make a difference. With our aqua view we should be able to see if it attracts fish to the bait or not. We’ll let you know how it goes if the local water ever freeze’s. Troy Pike
I have not used one, but have heard the following comments. In water deeper than 5 ft., the action is lost due to the line absorbing the vibration. In water less than 5 ft., sunfish tend to not like the action but crappies find it interesting and will sometimes bite. I would recommend using a regular ice rod and create the action yourself.
Last year while I was at Cabela’s in Owatonna, they had them on display and the clerk let me play with one. I admit they are tempting and it was fun fooling around with it. However when I asked the clerk about the battery life, he just smiled and never answered me. They have also been advertised in some magazines and they report that the battery life is about 8 to 10 hours. What Mike says makes sense about the jigging action.
Thanks guys for the report/heads up. Think I will stick to the rods I bought last year at HOF and do my own jigging. Besides if its cold enough it comes naturally to sqiver [sp] from the cold. lol. Thats, Bill
