Has anybody been fishing Lake Zumbro? The bass have been cooperating for me on paddletails but haven’t caught any crappies or bluegills lately. Thanks, Bill

    Hey Bill,

I’m interested to hear any responses as well!
From a few regulars that I talk to, I know that they have been getting some panfish closer to the shorelines with steep drops. Most of the fish are coming on live bait, waxies for the gills and minnows for the crappies. Another good possibility right now is northerns and muskies! The area below the dam has been pretty good lately for the toothy critters.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

I haven’t been doing alot of fishing on the Zumbro lately but it sure has been a nice close place to break in a outboard motor. The bass have been the most cooperating as of late. As for panfish I really haven’t given them much attention lately but like Mike says they are biting closer to shore where there is deep water very close from what I have heard also. Am stuck in a rut so to speak – I want warm weather to play with my new toy and don’t want to put it away but yet ice fishing time is getting closer everyday and will be here soon too. Just can’t help but dream of next spring and summer for open water crappies and bluegills on Lake Zumbro and the Mississippi River backwaters and on all the Rochester Area Lakes. Boy, am I going to have fun then. Lots of water and lots to talk about then. Even ordered some telescoping rods for panfishing and of course I have some St. Croix rods that made just for panfish with light actions. Can’t wait. Maybe I have been hearing toooooooo much about all the fun Mike and Ron [RHW] have been having with the crappies and bluegills lately. And I’m a diehard walleye nut too. Oh well, its fishing and its getting me excited! Don’t know if I’m getting older or if its just that I want to have ALOT more fishing fun. Speaking of fishing fun – have you checked out the new B-Fish-N paddletails that Mike has at HOF?!! They work great for all kinds of fish species. And theres alot of new crappie and bluegill lures too at HOF. And Mike is such a diehard panfishing nut that you know they are field tested to be great lures before they get into his store for us to buy. And for all you ice fishing guys and gals there are over 20,000 ice fishing jigs too. Sure makes fishing alot more fun with all the right goodies in our tackle boxes to catch all the fish with.
    Thanks, Bill
