What is technically correct, plastic or rubber?

Fishermen often refer to part of their fishing arsenal as plastics. However, is this technically correct?
When I think of plastic, I think of something hard and brittle, such as milk jugs, the parts of your dashboard in your car or your ballpoint pen. Then there are the soft and supple materials, like rubber. You know, rubber bands, elastics, spongy and just plain soft. When I pick through my tackle box, I don’t have anything that is hard and brittle. All my stuff is soft and supple.
So when someone says that plastics makes better fishermen without having to use live bait, does that mean they catch fish with their rubbers?

It sounds better to say ”I’ve got my plastics with me” when walking out the door to go fishing than to say ”I’ve got my rubbers with me.” You get to fish alot more that way. So we will continue to call them … um… plastics! Thanks, Bill

Either way I know what a guy is talking about. I guess I’ve grown used to calling them plastics but I can think of lots of people that refer to fishing “rubber” worms.

I sure hope they catch fish with their rubbers as I have boughten a ton of B-Fish-N Tackle rubbers from you over the past year. Rubbers or plastics are alot of fun to fish with.

    Thanks, Bill

Jake, I think the voices in your tackle box are telling you to go Pike fishing at Lake Zumbro!!!

    Thanks, Bill
