Foster for Trout

About noon today, I couldn’t stand it any longer, had to fish for something, anything. So out to Foster I went and figured I could stand the cold wind for a couple hours at least. I wasn’t the only one who braved the chill. There were several others fishing off the pier and the shoreline. It started off kind of slow. After 45 minutes into it, I finally caught my first trout. Ended up catching 6 total. Five of them went over 16 inches and one of them I figured was close to pushing three pounds. Kept a nice 12 incher for dinner. I used my old standby, a Flicktail and tipped it with waxies.
When I left for home, I thought to myself, probably the next time I pass by Foster, it’ll be covered with ice.

Thanks for the report Ron. Were you fishing it under a bobber? Which color worked best? Thanks, Bill

Bill, yes below a bobber, about 6 feet. Flicktail has a black head and an orange body.

Mike the rascal ran out, think I bought em all. I keep pestering him to order more. Even he admits they are a dynamite jig. Kind of our inside secret. But lets not let the cat out of the bag.

Gosh Ron, for sure don’t tell anyone they work under the ice! Guess I’ll have to break down and get some more in.

I have heard that Foster has been kicking out a lot of trout lately. Obviously, the type of bait being used helps determine the size of fish. The combination Ron is talking about has really been outstanding much of the time there.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Anyone know if the lake was stocked recently?

I have not heard of anything being stocked recently. In the fall as the water cools, it seems lots of trout start coming back up to shallower water and start getting caught. Unless there has been a stocking recently, I would expect the trout to be pretty tasty as they have been in the “wild” and lost that bad taste that hatchery trout seem to have.

I went over to Foster-Arends Lake for a couple hours this morning. Managed to catch a few including these 13-14 inchers in the picture. I used the same presentation as Ron mentioned in his post.
I did talk to one person that said he was told the lake was stocked last week.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Nope! I did take the picture at the store and had to find something with a light background – so the priority mail box was it.
Those trout were a lot of fun to catch on my 9 ft. noodle rod! I also caught and released a beautiful brook trout today.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

And you and Ron have ALL the good hot colors of Flicktails too huh. lol. Don’t forget to let me and everyone else know when you get some more in Bud. Nice fish. Any culprit paddletails for crappies yet? Thanks, Bill
