The bite for panfish is still going very well in the Mississippi backwaters near Wabasha/Kellogg. RHW and I went yesterday and had another great day! We kept a couple meals of fish and released the other 200. The crappies were up to 13 inches and bluegills up to 9 inches, but many of the gills were 8+.
Small jigs, both plastic/rubber or hair worked well. Tipping with a waxie was optional. We fished the jigs about 3 ft. under a bobber and worked the offering slowly.
    Sure was another fun day!

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Yes Mike it was another great day wasn’t it. Went to a few different places, couple places, nothing, another place they were scattered, but when we found them concentrated, bingo. Now the interesting thing here was that what was our favorite place, wasn’t as good as we had expected, so we went exploring and got into our best catch in a place we had never fished before. So you have to be willing to move and check out different spots as we discovered yesterday. Mike used hair and plastics, switching from one to another when the fish got wise.
Me, I stuck with my orange flicktails and red mini mites.
They were high and low so again had to experiment with bobber depth. Mikes was getting his up high and I went about a foot deeper. Try the two to four foot range, then zero in when you find the bigger ones.

Boy you guys sure know how to have fun. Keep the reports coming and I’ll keep being jealous. Some of us don’t have weekdays off so we get to fight the crowds on the weekends.
    Thanks, Bill
