Well I have had a pinched nerve in my back for the last 2 weeks so no work and no fishing until today. I limped on down to fishermans inn for a couple of hours today. I didn’t catch anything but a shiver from the cold. Anyone been out to chester woods? Are they biting anywhere localy? Troy Pike

I fished the Sun. morning on Lake Zumbro. I had 3 nice smallmouth ranging from 1.5# to 3.5#. No largies. I suspect the cold front shut it down some. Typically there is some nice fish biting out there this time of year.

The local bite has been OK depending on where and if you can get out in a boat. Many of the fish that you were getting from shore at the flood control impoundments have moved deeper and are more difficult to reach from shore. People able to go out in boats are still doing well, but are fishing deeper to find the fish.
Lake Zumbro is producing some panfish in some of the same places you will find them in the spring – along the deep drop shorelines. Those willing to spend time fishing for toothy critters are catching some nice fish. Mostly northerns, they are being caught on large crankbaits or sucker minnows.
Foster Arends has just recently been producing several nice trout. This seems to happen each year about this time when the water starts to cool. I don’t think the DNR has stocked it recently. Minnows have been the best bait.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Jake, you go ALL year without a Northern and now they are biting and you won’t even try for one?!?!! Well I guess that leaves all the Northerns for the rest of us.
    Thanks, Bill

Went out on Lake Zumbro today, saturday, and had some luck

Jake: We were fishing for bass, but all we could catch was those slimy smelly northerns. All in all we caught about 8, good sized and small, best was about a 35 incher. You should head out, used a white spinner half ounce terminator
    good luck

THE REST OF US: Mybae Jake will put the gun away for that We were casting to the shore and had only 3 bass and had two really nice follows by northern, or muskie, cant tell when all you see is the top. we had fun but it was a zoo out there, i don’t know if people where winterizing or what, crazyness tho.

    good luck everyone
