No surprise after all the rain, but Lake Zumbro has been put in “no wake” status. You can still fish, you just can’t create a wake with your boat.

    Good Fishing,

I went for a walk down behind my house this morning to check the water level. Man, it is high! It is still rising fast. The peninsula by Kings Park this morning was above water, but just a few minutes ago it is almost completely submerged. Wow! It looks like the Mighty Mississippi is also going up too. Oh, one other thing Mike, our dear friend Dan is long gone! He has moved to Joplin, Missouri without saying goodbye . I guess you and me will have to start fishing together now.

Here is a story that the Star-Tribune wrote about him. http://www.startribune.com/stories/535/4967326.html

    Hey Slayer,

Wish Dan the best! Kind of neat they did a story about him.

I was down to the Mississippi this afternoon and the water had not come up very much yet.

When do you want to go fishing?

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Got into some real nice bluegills and crappies in the backwaters near Kellogg.

The level of Lake Zumbro is now 5.3 ft. above crest! I think that is higher than it was earlier this year. There is still a lot of water to get through the system, so it may be high for several days.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

The water level is coming down well. It’s at 2.9 ft above crest now, down 2.4 ft. since yesterday. Probably be very fishable within a couple days.

Of course Mike, after the weekend. lol. But YES its going down down down!!! And to think that the last time Rochester got that much rain, 1978, we had a terrible flood. Sure glad we had the flood control project done. Hope nobody had any water problems in their basement. Thats an ugly problem. It won’t long and Zumbro should be back to normal. Suppose Jake will be back in town next weekend looking for Northerns now that he seen proof that they are there. One of these days he will become one mean lean Northern catchin machine if he just keeps at it. [gee, did I really say that?] Think I need to check my temperature or something. lol. Anyway, Thanks for the update on the water conditions. Thanks, Bill

The lake is at 1.5 above crest this morning. The water level needs to drop 1 more ft. and the “no wake” rule will be lifted.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Drove by the Silver Lake Dam last night and the water below the dam was way down from before so the are pushing the water through the river like crazy. So its getting closer towards normal.

    Thanks, Bill

Mike, do you have no faith in Jake as a mean lean green fish catchin Northern machine? After all the proof he has now he should be so pumped that nothing will stop him from catching em as he won’t quit till he catches himself a big one. Go get em Jake!!!

The water level is 0.9 above crest this morning. Only 0.4 more to drop before the no wake is lifted.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

The “no wake” has been lifted from Lake Zumbro. I’ve talked to a few people that have been doing well out there on the panfish.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike
