Well, After 8 years of marraige, my wife and I have parted ways.
One of the results of the breakup is that I have relocated to Austin Minnesota and have left all my favorite fishing spots two hours to the north.
I am primarily a river fisherman and am going through serious withdrawls down here.
    Help!
If any of you local guys are looking for some company, I would really appreciate the chance to find out where one can fish around here.
I am only twenty minutes from Rochester and willing to travel. I just don’t have any destinations in mind yet.
If you want some company for an outing, shoot me a PM and I will give you my phone number, or I can be reached at my work, ( sometimes).
Try calling the Holiday Inn in Austin at 507-433-1000 and asking for Terry. As I am the general manager of the restaurant, it is sometimes difficult to track me down around here, but sometimes it works.
Anyway, looking forward to meeting some of you local guys.
TIA and Tight Lines To You!
    Terry.

    Hey Terry

I grew up in Austin and much of my family still lives there. If you need an immediate fishing fix the Cedar River south of Austin can give up some nice smallies. Much of the river is wadeable. I wouldn’t bother much with the stretch that flows right through town as it gets pounded hard. South of town is a different story and the closer you get to the IA border the better it gets. Grab a map and look for drop in spots where bridges cross the river. Along with the smallies expect some fair sized pike as well.

    Thx for the info.
Is it true we can have 3 lines in the water on Iowa border waters?

Nope. You’ll be bound by the license you’re fishing under. MN allows 2 on the Mississippi River and other border waters. I’d check regs specific to your area in question to see about running 2 lines but nobody fishing under a MN license would be allowed to fish 3 anywhere I’m aware of.

Welcome to the site Terry. If you have a boat there is the Mississippi River pool 4 at Red Wing and Lake Pepin in Lake City. Also Lake Zumbro [Wide deep spot in the Zunbro River]outside of Oronco, Mn. north of Rochester. If you like fishing for walleyes there is a walleye fishing club based out of Rochester called Walleye Searchers of Minnesota that meets at the Elks Club in Rochester every 1st Monday night at 7:00 but this month it will be the 2nd Monday night night due to the Holiday. Membership is only 25.00 per year. They fish 8 club tournaments per year on the Mississippi River and is a great way to meet other anglers and learn the river. If you can’t attend the meetings its no big deal all you have to do is let a club officer know if you want to fish a tournament that month before the meeting and your name is put into the partner drawing. The tounaments are on weekends [4 on Sat and 4 on Sub]. Again welcome. Thanks, Bill
