I was looking on e bay and came up with a great idea but im not sure if its legal. A guy was selling somthing call sturcture on a string. here is the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=3693408731&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT

Its a string with a weight on it with fake plants along it to bring in fish to hide in and bring in fish to eat the ones hiding closer to where you are fishing. I was thinking about making a few of these and puting them around the area of our permanant ice house on willow creek. Is this legal? Troy Pike

A couple things to consider, fish in the winter are attracted to underwater stucture not necessarily for protection but because branches, sticks, weeds, wood, etc, after a long period of time attract microrganisms. These little buggers bring in bait fish which bring in game fish.

So, just simply putting some fake plants down there may not get you your desired result, unless they were left for long periods of time (which would be illegal in MN). Yes, it may draw in a few crappie seeking cover if left of a couple days, but it is nothing like putting some good old christmas trees down there (which is illegal in MN without a permit).

I don’t think that would be legal, but you should check with the DNR to be certain.
