Well HOF said he hadnt heard much lately on the crappie side so I thought I’d post a little tidbit. Went out at 1:00pm and the weather couldnt of been more beautiful. Got out to a favorite spot in 16ft of water with submerged trees and started slow trowling with a split shot and hook and minnow. Only success was nice looking stripers(boy can they fight good on a 9ft Zumbro Special. Went to the spot on the spot and started picking up crappies, and perch on and just outside the hotzone (trees). Still using a hook and sinker. Just a little bob now and then to entice the minnow to swim a little more seemed to do the trick. Fishing was slow by spring and fall means but I did manage to catch just over a limit of nice eaters with a couple good ones to boot. Didnt really try anything else as I was done and out by 4pm. A couple did come from 18 to 20 ft but not far from the submerged area. Tight lines . FISHINFOOL

I’m sure many know the spot I talk about, it seems to produce crappie from late spring to late fall with just a little slowing in the summer, you have to adjust your time there more than the bait. Sometimes early, some noon, and some late evening. Fall time I average 30 to 40 crappies caught in about a 2 hour time frame if I hit it right, most are keeper size. C’mon fall time. FF
