Hey everyone just got back from another great day on the river, I put a post on the walleye forum. Just wanted to let anyone interested know that today equipment and speed was the key to catching fish. If you don’t own an Okuma line counter reel or any other Type of linecounter it made it really hard to catch fish. In the morning 140 ft was the ticket, in the after noon 200 ft was on and at around 3-5 it was 170 . To realize the difference you must be in a boat with a partner who doesn’t have one and when you are getting 3 fish in a row you will make a believer in them( my partner and I both have line counters) The Okuma reels at Hooked On Fishing are truely some of the best reels on the market and are amazingly low priced. Rig a line counter with power pro all in 1 stop at HOF. Key tip for me this week was concentrate on inside bends go slow to the deep side and cut troll fast to the shallow 3-4 mph this sudden speed increase triggers a strike and also resembles bait fish darting to the shore. Thanks for the report Joey. Yes those Okuma line counters that Mike sells at Hooked On Fishing are really nice reels at a great price. He has real good linecounters reels staring at around 40.00-45.00 on up I believe. Mike, can you fill us in on the exact prices and what all you have in stock? Thanks, Bill

    Hey Guys,

We carry 2 Okuma line counter reels, size 20 for $39.99 and size 30 for $44.99. These are very nice quality reels and easily compare to other reels at twice the cost. We also have some nice 10 ft. Okuma rods to use with the trolling reels for only $29.99. That makes a good trolling combo for a low price!

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Now that sounds like a very good combo for a price that is so low everyone can afford to get themselves set up for trolling. Catching a fish with your lure running back at such and such feet behind the boat and then being able to duplicate that same distance puts the lure right back in the fish zone again and again to catch more fish. No more just hopeing and guessing your lure is running where it needs to be to catch fish. This rod and reel set up will help you put alot more fish in the boat. Mike studied the different reel brands before deciding which brand he wanted to carry in his store and he chose Okuma. Both Nate and I have switched alot of our reels over to Okuma and have been very happy with them. Great quality reels at a great price with Hooked On Fishing.
    Thanks, Bill

Hey Bill have you or Nate ever ran lead on your Okuma’s? This is the true test because if the reel cannot handle lead it will fall apart before 1 season. Okumas product line is on the cutting edge of being the best on the market at about 1/2 the price of other brands, Their spinning reels have the best anti-reverse and smoothest drag systems out there. So back to the main question has anybody out there ran lead through them?

I have been running mono on mine but I believe Nate has and he loves the Okumas just like I do. If there were any problems with them I would of heard about it as he won’t hesitate to mention it if a piece of equipement doesn’t perform like he wants it to and all I’ve heard from him is praise of the Okuma reels.
    Thanks, Bill
