The RPU site shows the lake level at almost 3 feet over the cutoff level for no wake. Could be a few days for this one with the rain still coming down.

It looks like it’s going to be a while before us waders can get back out in the water too.
June 11, 2004 at 2:57 pm #308298Yes, the Olmsed County Sheriff’s site has “no wake in effect.” http://www.olmstedcounty.com/sheriff/lake_zumbro_status.htm
The water has receeded in the river flowing through Rochester already, so maybe this will be short lived?Good Fishing,

MikeJune 13, 2004 at 4:47 am #308476Thanks for the heads up info and the links as they sure will come in handy if this rain continues. Finally got my computer back up and running as it pooped out on me Friday night and lost alot of stuff. Now if I can just figure out how to work everything on the newest version of Juno as some stuff is hidden it seams. Thanks, Bill
June 14, 2004 at 8:40 pm #308620Took a ride by it today and see that there are two large trees down and in the water blocking access. Who maintains this site for removal? Or should I bring the chain saw? Just a heads up if this no wake situation ever goes away!!
June 14, 2004 at 11:54 pm #308644I believe the Ponderosa launch would be maintained by the DNR. Anyone know for sure?
Good Fishing,
MikeJune 15, 2004 at 1:40 am #308658I nominate Bill……He’s got the week off (with nothing better to do )
June 15, 2004 at 2:22 am #308666That was last week Jake. Maybe if you remove the sunglasses you might be able to read the callendar correctly. The DNR owns the ramp site I believe. Thanks, Bill
June 15, 2004 at 3:43 am #308684New Picture, New Title, I wish I could be Jake.
Actually, one Jake is probably enough to keep us old farts entertained when we’re not out fishing.
Write On Jake!!June 16, 2004 at 11:11 am #308829The water level on Lake Zumbro is dropping very nicely and is now within 3/4 ft. of being back to normal operations. When I went through Zumbro Falls yesterday, the Zumbro River was clearly lower and getting close to normal level. I think the lake will probably have the no wake status lifted by this weekend and then it’s back to hitting those bull gills and big crappies – and oh yes, those nice bass!
Good Fishing,
MikeJune 16, 2004 at 12:28 pm #308832Now your talkin my language!!! I’m being babysitted this weekend [hanging around with my youngest grandson] and will be at my youngest daughters Sat and oldest daughters Sun but next weeks nights I’m not being babysitted. Sure hope the water gets back to normal. Mike, you have any free nights next week? Have boat-will fish!
Thanks, BillJune 16, 2004 at 1:24 pm #308844Hey Bill,
Yes, a night on Zumbro sounds like fun! We’ll see what the weather is doing next week.
Good Fishing,
MikeJune 19, 2004 at 6:26 pm #309299I see the No Wake rule is still in affect on Lake Zumbro today. Has anyone tried fishing under the current conditions? Tomorrow AM might be a great time to put the canoe in the water!
June 20, 2004 at 3:51 am #309317Mike, thats enough teasing now. lol. Hopefully it will be open soon. Sounds like the water is dropping now just about everywhere. Thanks, Bill
June 20, 2004 at 5:53 am #309340Below is the update at 12:30 am Sunday morning. It is getting very close to opening so lets hope the possible rain predicted for Sunday misses us.
The Lake Zumbro Water Level was 920.72 ft., or approximately 0.7 ft. above the crest on 06/20/04 at 12:30:02 AM.
Data is updated when the lake level changes. All data provided is unofficial.Lake Zumbro spillway crest is 920.0 feet Dam Datum.
RPU tries to maintain a lake level of 919.5 to 920.0 during the summer season. Normal winter pool is 918.0 to 918.5.
Olmsted County Lake Zumbro Status (goes to the Sheriff’s department website)
This info was copied from the RPU site concerning Lake Zumbro water level.
June 21, 2004 at 2:11 am #309395The lake has been dropping steadily and it looks like there is not any substantial rainfall in the forecast (of course now I’ve just jinxed us.) It needs to drop 1.1 ft. from the current level before the Sheriff Dept. will lift the ‘no wake’ rule.
Good Fishing,
Mike
