Ron and I went to Lake Pepin this afternoon for about 4 hours. This was the first time in 5 years that my current boat had been in the water, so I was a little surprised when the motor ran really well. The bummer was that I will probably need to replace the trolling motor…. Without the trolling motor it was very difficult to do a good job of working an area effectively.
Anyway, our intention was to work the shallow water in search of walleyes. We fan casted #5 shallow shad raps. Ended up with 2 walleyes – a 17 and 21 inch, 3 white bass, 1 catfish, and 1 northern.
It sure was a nice day to be out there. Can’t wait to go again, this time with a new trolling motor!

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Thanks for the report. What colors worked best and how deep were your casting to? [shoreline or points] Thanks, Bill

The best colors were chartreuse and silver. We were handicapped by no trolling motor and were not able to get real close to shore, so we just fan-casted a shallow flat. Water was 3-5 ft.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike
