Anyone going to fish bass on opener?

Just curious to see how many are going to target bass on the opener this Saturday? Where will you go and what is your choice of lures?

I consider this to be my opener. Bass fishin’ !

I’ll be tossing top water flies with my eight-weight on Lake Demontreville.

Man Mike, it really depends on the weather at this point. I’m normally out wading. As it stands right now (no pun intended) I won’t be walking the streams due to fast current and very dirty water. I have been thinking about taking my canoe out on Lake Zumbro and looking for bass. If the No Wake rule is still on for the week-end, I could essentially have the lake to myself. Either rowing or using my trolling motor I’m not very concerned by the logs that have been reported. I think I could just tuck into a bay and search for bass in shallow water. Unfortunately the last forecast I heard was for rain Saturday, Sunday and Monday. I sure hope they are wrong.

With today’s weather I’d be tempted to go out and ‘pre-fish’ the openerif I wasn’t stuck at work. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for Saturday morning.

I usually head up by Mille Lacs and fish the smaller lakes up there. But, there is a graduation party/ceremony this weekend (ya, I can’t undertand it either) and my honey-do list just became quite massive (long story) . It’s going to drive me nuts knowing I could be slammin some bass up north but what’s a guy to do? Maybe sneak out to the Zum for a couple casts….

My Dad use to always say: where theres a will theres a way. Sneaking off to Lake Zumbro is a way. And close too plus some good bass. I’m sure YOU will find a way!! We all know you have the will!
