Had a fun day in Bill’s boat Saturday with Bill and Ron. The fishing was almost as good as sharing the day with good friends! We consistently caught crappies and bluegills all day. Bill got the big fish for the day – about a 30 inch northern. The best bait seemed to be either small hair jigs, small plastics or small minnows. We fished below a bobber anywhere from 1-3 ft. The fish were all close to shore, in their spawning areas. The males are very dark colored right now. Lake Zumbro is still fairly clear even with all the rain we’ve had.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

It was a great day to be out on the water. Mother nature changed her mind and gave us some decent weather. The crappies and bluegills responded nicely. What Mike forgot to tell you is that I won the big fish prize with that northern which was: the winner has to pay for supper. Somehow that doesn’t figure but thats the contest we agreed on. lol. Great friends, good fishing, and nice weather=a great combination.
    Thanks, Bill

ps. guess who forgot the camera and the first two guesses don’t count.

I am the Ron that Mikes is referring to and new to this forum. Heard many good things about it so thought I would join in. Yes, the three of us had an excellent day. First time I had an opportunity to fish with Bill and talk to him about this forum. Thanks again Bill for letting me tag along. Poor guy didn’t get to fish quite as much as Mike and I because he was busy controlling the boat and guiding us right on top of the fish.
