So what are some suggestions on where to go tomorrow to get out of the wind….Looks like 25-35 out of the SW. I live in Rochester but am willing to head east to Winona (never fished over there before though). I have a portable that I will anchor but would still like to be somewhat protected…Thanks!

If you’re on ice you’ll never be out of the wind.

Prairie Island park in Winona has been shuffling some nice crappies out across the bay by the wood sticking out of the ice. At mid channel sauger and walleyes have been showing up.

Friend of mine drove out to Cascade ponds today and said there was about 2-3 inches of water on top of the ice. Sounds like it might be a bit sloppy until it freezes up. Wind sounds crazy for tomorrow. Think I’ll wait to head out. Good luck and be safe. Report if you get out.

Ended up getting out all day yesterday. Even with the weather change and everything the feed bags were on. Got hunkered into a shoreline break in 17FOW first thing in the morning and were protected nicely from the wind. Ended up catching about 10 bass from 8am-10am. After about 10 we decided to see if we could find some sunfish/crappies. Switched lakes, and this one was a bit more breezy ….Ended up fishing from noon-3:30 in 11FOW. We both filled our limit of crappies/sunfish. Definitely glad I went out and tried it, much better than I had expected. As for ice conditions, it was great out there. No water on the ice and easy pulling the sled without any snow. You do however want to wear ice cleats!!!!

Was out today on one of the local private ponds. We got out about 1:00 and fished till 4:30. Caught some huge sunnies and gills And even 1 walleye about 14 inches. Ice is in good shape and as you said wear your cleats.
