Guys…I’m pondering an impromptu ice fishing trip to Mille lacs later this month with my two kids (ages 12 and 9). Hopefully a leave Friday come back Sunday thing, in a rental sleeper house. And, as cheap – but still decent – as possible. Any advice/suggestions on resorts? Not too keen on the slot on Mille lacs etc., but oh well. Walleye or perch would be great, but we wouldn’t be too choosy.

Appledorn’s is good and I do like the fishing areas over there better (if a guy can’t get a house on the mud mid season). Brandt’s is very cheap but very basic at best in the cheaper houses.

I too would suggest Appeldoorns as well.

Red Door Resort on the north end of the lake has a new restaurant and very good rates. one thing to keep in mind is that some houses at all resorts dont have indoor toilets so you might want to consider that… the last time I stayed at Appledoorns, I was not impressed with how long the shacks had been at the same site…

Thanks for the info, guys. If I convince my 9 year old daughter to come with me, a nearby bathroom may indeed be a determining factor.
