I’ve heard reports of people going out on CW. The ice is variable I guess so a spud should be leading the way for now, but one would think the last couple days with well-below-freezing temps should have it good for foot travel now.
I toured and hit some backwater areas around Winona and found a consistent 4-6″ throughout the prairie island area. Plenty of gills to be caught but a lot of sorting. Checked a hole I found at one of the ramps at lake Winona and there was about 6″ but some of the lake does not look great and nobody was out fishing today.
Good luck if you make it out, today was my first time out in months!
As of yesterday the ice is variable. Especially the parking lot wing of Chester. The ice I was on (main basin) was roughly five inches of solid good clear ice. 3 shacks were farther out than I. Use your spud.
