made it to a rochester pond thursday a little after noon to see pails and stringers of crappies being hauled off.. i counted on two guys stringer over 20 fish.. just shook my head as my stomach started to ache..around two hours later these two clowns roll back with a plastic bag full off minnows ready to put the hurt on again..” NOT ON MY WATCH..i pulled out my phone and dialed the T.I.P.. hotline..while i watched them put 3 on the stringer right away….warden GEORGE was there in less than 20.. after a brief conversation with him i roll out..he called me back friday morning..results 18 fish over limit.. 20 at home and 8 on stringer.. he also told me that a cash reward is in the mail…

made it back saturday and guess whos there again..this time the clown brought his whole family ..i couted 10 people..thank god the warden was there again

heres a few blacks from rochester and a couple whites from .. those soft plastics made by “Cappie Tom”are deadly

I’ve been watching the same thing happen to a small fishery near me, it makes me sick. I haven’t called T.I.P. because I’ve heard so many stories about the DNR not showing up.
    :

Even if they don’t show up. If you can give them boat numbers or auto license plate numbers and details like height, weight, general appearance, etc they have enough to visit the poacher at their home. Cell phone pics are helpful as well.

Make it a point to put each CO’s cell number in your phone so you can contact them directly.

That reminds me I still need to save the TIP number to my contacts. Haven’t needed it yet, but if I do, I want to be able to make a quick call.

Problem we have is our local CO Sam Hunter, Hubbard county, virtually never ever never ever never ever… answers her phone or calls back. Basically worthless.

Nice Job by the way on the call in and the crappies!!!

Pretty sure I know where you were at Lou and that has always been a problem there. Good call on the warden.

Way to go Louis!!! Got all three numbers on my phone for MN, MI & WI, plus the local CO’s. Opener here in Wisco, was with a friend and we called once in the a.m. and once in the evening. We know our CO got the a.m. one as we watched him make contact. The evening one was too late and we can only hope that if he didn’t make contact in the home, he set up to watch them the next day and was able to get them then.

Its too bad that some people try to ruin the fishing for everyone else by taking too many fish which hurts a fishery. Thanks.
    Thanks, Bill

U might want to save your reward money so you can pay for your trespassing ticket that is private property where you got those!

Parking lot gate open. Trespassing? Doubtful. And I don’t see anywhere that Lou said he kept any.

Must be some jealous people out and about, eh? Again, nice job Lou…..both counts.

i was thinking he was at mayo lake. if he was thats not a parking lot, its roads with shore front property that are lots. just heard of people fishing there without permission and the person that owns it was not happy and he does a poor job of watching it. thats all just wanted to give him a heads up. so before you shoot your mouth off CT your not always right even though you think you are. EH?

Never said I was positive, but then neither have you.

Why the ugliness? Are you one of “those kinds” that maybe see the warden being called on you for similar issues? Or are you just jealous of Lou’s abilities? Either way,

as for being jealous no not at all. louie i thought those fish were amazing! just thought id spread the word of what i heard and give a heads up. as for me and the dnr they can check me anytime. im glad louie called the dnr it was the right thing to do. i just dont care for you CT, and your so called knowledge thats all. doesnt take rocket science to catch crappies when they are spawning its like shooting fish in a barrel.

You’re right. That’s why I haven’t been on the lake since the spawning started. My recent crappie fishing has been done on the big river.

first off ” crappies” and “whomever” i appreciate your concerns..but let it be known i know where im fishing..and yes there are a few private ponds that i do fish…yes with permission.. was or is this a private pond on this day yes mabey no… did i keep a few yes i did ..i payed for my license.. trust me when i say this i release way more than i keep and i am and will always put conservation and respect for “our resources first”..

wow, sunburned is right!! why in the world would lou call the DNR tip line if he was on private party land?? r u kidding me?

nice job lou, CT, i think most enjoy reading your posts, that jealousy comes from the people who wish they had as much opportunity as you to be on the water. I’m jealous of that, but wouldn’t think about trying to rub your face in the mud over trying to provide some general info, keep it up.

fyi, some people actually “get off” on trying to provoke others on forums such as this one. These people are called TROLLS. 1st tidbit of helpful info, ignore them and their belittling comments, they are just trying to reel people in for reactions so they can continue with elementary bantering.
