    Mike,

Thanks for the info and the reports on Foster, I’ll have to pack up the kids and give that a try some time this spring. My kids are all over trout fishing but that can be brutal on the streams with a 7 and a 4 year old casting spinners I should not make comments like that about them, they actually do very well, we were out last night and I was the only one to get snagged

I think they want to hit the backwaters today for some crappies so well see what happens.

    Thanks again!

Dave, If you want to stay closer to home and have some fun with the kids, you might want to try taking them out to Willow Creek Res. just south of Willow Creek Golf Course. It seems like there are a lot of small, but hungry pan fish out there. I’ve also heard that fishing Silver Lake can be a pretty good time. Pan fish and carp could always make for an exciting fishing event for kids.

Yep, Silver Lake is loaded with fish! It has produced lots of panfish, northerns, both smallmouth and largemouth bass, catfish, bullheads, carp, perch, turtles, etc. Take some worms, minnows, small jigs and have a good time catching fish!

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Thanks for the info guys! I spend much of the time in Winona and on the river but the kids love to catch trout. I have taken them streamside a few times but sitting along the lake with a few less trees is a nice thought too. Also, with the stocking, I thought they might have a better shot at a decent trout then they do on the pressured streams down here. Just a thought and besides, you always have to keep the options open.

    Thanks again for the info

They stock 8,000 trout per year in Foster Arends. Not fingerling size either but decent size trout. This really increases the chances of the kids catching them.
    Thanks, Bill

This is kind of difficult to believe, but a young person caught a trout in Foster Arends on Sunday that was over 13 lbs!
I am working on getting a picture and will post it soon.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

That’s the kind of stuff that keeps the kids coming back for more. It’s great to see to see how excited they get when it happens and then just at the thought that it just might happen again.

I can’t wait to see that picture!

Thanks for all your help guys!
