Ben, here is what Nate and I do. Tie a red hook on your line. Put 3 split shot up about 18”-24” above the hook. Slide 2 power bait onto your hook with just barely seeing the sharp end of the hook. Take a stick that has fork [y] in it and stick that stick in the ground and cast your bait out into the water gently and then tighten up the line so it goes straight out into the water without much bow in it and set it down in the sticks fork and watch the rod tip. When you see a movement in the rod tip grab the rod quickly and set the hook. ”Fish On!!!” It does take some practice. I’m not as quick as Nate so he catchs more than I do. But its still fun to be outdoors fishing. Watch our friends from Asia out there as they are good at catching fish this way and they taught Nate many years ago. Even in the boat Nate watches his rod tips when trolling and will grab the rod and have a fish on when the other guy in the boat didn’t even notice the rod tip doing something different so its a good method to learn.
Thanks, Bill
