I was out to silver creek last Wednesday. Set up the pop-up about 150 yards from shore. Had 8 inches of the clearest ice you can get! There were a lot of people out on the ice. There was a spot of open water at the north edge where the geese have kept it open. I can’t speak for any of the other ponds.

Chester Woods is rock solid with 4-5 inches of clear ice. You may want cleats (or hockey skates). That is current as of today.

Everything I have heard is that the res fishing is off and running and that the ice is ok. Lake Zum is a questionable puddle in my opinion. I might wait on Foster but they were out there in numbers just the other day with the whole lake covered.

The dnr shot a report ,or warning, out the other day on ice conditions because people were going thru in many areas and the warning was a blanket warning. Use your own judgement and use a spud to lead the way, have rescue picks and floatation with you [these should be with you on ANY ice], and don’t make the first tracks out.

Personally I’d find some ice in the backwaters of the river to fish. Lots of action happening down there that is easy to access and fish quality is much better.
