Mike, if you still want ice you are going to have to look in your ice freezer at work! We are on open water fishing time now Bud. Think spring, think open water, think crappies and walleyes and trout. Thanks, Bill
Just couldn’t resist picking on you there Bud. I know how much you like to ice fish and would probably like to see open water in the main part of the river and still see ice in the backwaters all year. Best of both worlds I guess you would call it. Thanks, Bill
I took a drive to the big river today. Yes, the ice is almost completely gone with the exception of a few small areas. As Tom said, the Chippewa is pouring out water and the river below is quite high – at flood stage in a few spots. The good news is that the spring fishing should really get very good!
caught my first “true” walleye of the year today…….21″er on a chartruse ringworm…….that baby was sittin right up tight to shore behind a VERY OBVIOUS current break …….i imagine this high water will only improve fishing ehh
