Does anyone know any good carp holes in or around Rochester? I know I see them all the time around silver lake at least. If you do know some good spots then what do you use for bait? I’m on the ir for football right now and lookin to spend some time fishing. Also I’ve been fishing the the zumbro above the apache mall damn quite a bit and catching a few smallys here and there. Are there anymore spots downstream that hold any good smallies? Anything is helpful. Thanks!

I’ve been killing the smallies in the Zumbro off 16th St the last few days, and I saw a nice carp in the same area but never hooked up.

I didn’t have a whole lotta time this afternoon so I went out on the zumbro close to the mayowood dam and didn’t catch anything. It was a great day to walk the river and wet a line. I’m sure theres smallmouths in there somewhere but I couldnt seem to pull anything out of the shallow holes. I’m gonna try working farther downstream sometime in the next couple weeks where there’s some deeper holes. Thanks for the replies!

Park in the HyVee north parking lots near the gas station and make the short walk across the bridge, staying on the south side. Drop down to the water and work your way south. Waldos to 21 inches have been seen there by a few people. Yes, I said waldo. They’re coming up from Lake Zumbro for the fall feed. Just snoop out some of the deepr pools. Smallies are in there too. And crappies. And of course, old rubber lips.

I’ve gotten all mine in the pool below the spillway behind Trader Joe’s. Tons of suckers in there too, but the smallmouth have been hitting good on crawlers. Nothing huge, so let me know if you see anything of any size. Also, the carp seem to be hanging out downstream of the pool in some of the moving water, so keep an eye out for them as well.
