Made it to Foster Arends today for the last couple hours of daylight. The trout were biting fairly well, and they were very nice trout – about 15-16 inches. Best bait today was Berkley Power Nuggets in yellow or green fished about a foot off the bottom in 7 feet of water. Minnows also produced some fish. The ice around the shoreline is opening up, so walking out on the south end will mean you need to walk out on the dock in order to get on the ice. The north end has some ice that is OK around some of the shoreline. The ice is still about 12 inches away from shore. It is advisable to take an ice spud with you in order to make sure the ice is safe ahead of where you are going to walk.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Are you using a tomahawk to break up the ice Jake? Looks like it in your last post.
    Thanks, Bill

The trout were mostly rainbows with a few brookies in the mix, but the size was really impressive. Yes, they really fight!
I suspect the days for ice fishing are coming to an end, but if you could get out 1 last time Jake, why you might even be able to make your fish count move in an upward motion.
Let’s see Bill – kids will be kids – yep!

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Yep!!! Sometimes you can’t help being a kid. In fact sometimes the only difference between men and boys is the size and price of their toys. But we won’t tell Mike that will we Tom?!! Thanks for the report Mike and knowing you there will be another one soon. lol. [you little sneak]
    Thanks, Bill
