I was out to the lake this morning and fished a corner that opens up early. I was fishing from shore and found things a bit tough going. I ended up with three craps and a northern that bite off. The craps were fed a variety of plastics, but only responded to a small 1″ twister by bumping it. By switching to minnows I was able to get the three craps, none of which had record-setter qualities….eight and a half to 10 inches. The toothie bit off a tube. They had about two inches of wet garbage fall on them through the night out there and that sort of shot the fishing in the foot. The water was dirty and varying in temps quite a bit, ranging from 35.5 degrees in one area to 40 a hundred feet away. The fish were all down at least 6 feet and appeared tenetive at the hit. None of them really “took” it. The rising barometer has more than likely played a role in the tough bite, but if tomorrow’s forecast holds together, I will most likely try it again. Later, people.
