Robins!

This morning I saw my first robins of the year! There were perhaps 15 of them in a barren field just east of town. What a wonderful sight. This is the earliest I’ve seen them before. Of course this means that spring cannot be far into the future. I have always watched for robins as the deliverer of good fishing weather. Another bird to watch for is the oriole. When they are being sited with any kind of frequency, you’d best have your hieny on the crappie waters! Of all the spring birds the oriole is my favorite. They just seem so at home in the trees while I’m casting shorelines and are actually quiet friendly. I’ve had them land on the boat, zing out over the water to grab a bug and then go sit in a tree while I pass. And their song is simply some of the best music there is.Robins already….spring is surely just around the corner boys.

No robins in my yard yet, but I am watching about 25 turkeys feeding in the wind and rain while I sip coffee.

Robins are great, they kind of taste like loon. Not as much meat on um though.

Today is the first day of spring. Well, at least the calendar says so. So had to go out to Hooked On Fishing today and get some of those jigs for tubes for crappies and some spinners for white bass and everything else that hits those babys. Gee, maybe I can catch Crappie Tom on those tube jigs. [suppose he wouldn’t like that though]. Rumor has it Mike Smith is sneaking away to go ice fishing Monday afternoon while the rest of us work and think about how much we want the ice to melt. [not the ice under you though Mike] Catch a few for me and a few for Tom and even ”one” for poor o’l Jake. Take your camera along for pics so you can show Jake what a fish looks like.
    Thanks, Bill

TFC for 04-05 season (Mar 1st- Feb 28th)…….1

Jake, you can’t count the fish that your Dad caught as one that you caught. Sorry, better luck next time and the time after that and after that and after that and after that etc.

Super nice day like today made me stop out at Hooked On Fishing this noon on lunch break and pick up some new tubes for fishing for crappies this spring. Mikes getting the spring lures out so that means its time to stock up and be ready for the good o’l spring fishing.

    Thanks, Bill

PS. He also has a big supply of ringworms, superdoos and K-tails tooooo!
