Ok, the title is a bit overboard. Went down to my boat on the lift this afternoon. Worked all day. Mowed the lawn. Ready for a Friday evening fishing trip. Went down to my boat on Sibley Lake in Pequot. All my rod combos were stolen. 7 bait caster combos and 2 spinning combos. A couple had the older green Curados. A Diawa Tatula and other above average reels and rods gone. Multiple Plano plastic tackle boxes filled with X-raps, Dt-10s, topwater lures, chatterbaits, and all my bass weights—-bullet, drop shot, etc. Gone. Had to happen over night. I suspect kids in the area. I know most of the crew on our lake. I doubt it was any of them. I talked to the police, left a message for my ins agent. Stopped at a pawn shop in Pine River to give them the heads up. I am stunned, sad, pissed. Ive been watching Craigslist closely. I’m pretty sure it’s a group that know my son and I fish a fair amount. They left the electronics. Could’ve been worse. I had to vent. Any tips on how to try to find my stuff? I think I was the only one on the lake that was hit. Ive never had to lock my boat lockers before. It is tonight. I might leave a few rods out in a month and have a stakeout.

Locking the compartments only means you will be left with damage next time. Sorry about your loss.

As you say most likely local and being that, you do stand a better chance at partial recovery. I had my entire vehicle cleaned out of all my camping and turkey hunting gear when I stopped to fish a trout stream one spring. Nothing was recovered and the county Sheriffs dept. ,where it occurred, calls me each spring to follow up on the stolen firearm.

Another one to look at is Facebook Marketplace, a lot of things sold on there.
    Sorry for your loss.
    Good luck

Sorry Sam. That really sucks. I keep my boat in my driveway here in the cities and it’s always a fear of mine that one night someone will break into it. I used to lock my compartments but after seeing the damage that thieves will do trying to open them I started taking everything of value out and leaving it unlocked. If you are really worried about it there are some solid security systems for boats on the market. I’ve thought about them a bit honestly.

That sucks man. Some good advice given. Facebook marketplace has seemed to become more popular than Craigslist lately so I would look there too.

I personally remove all my fishing tackle & electronics from the boat and bring it inside when at the cabin. The rods are easily replaced but if they stole all my tackle I would lose it

Talk about a buzz kill. So not only is it theft, it’s trespassing too!

My boat stays in the garage and it will continue to stay there after I see things like this happen.
