I have a Helix 7 G2 I would like to use on a hunting trip this fall and need road maps. I really don’t want to purchase a Lakemaster or Navionics chip for a once a year trip. anyone have any suggestions?

make sure you have the humminbird basemap downloaded they released a year or so ago is about all you can do, not sure if the little roads would be on there, would have to zoom in and check it out prior to leaving, otherwise borrowing a dakotas card

I’d use Google Maps on my phone, or get OnX.

This! OnX is pretty awesome if you’re willing to pay for it.

or SDGF has a free app with roads and public lands; but thats if you want to use data and view it on your 5 or 7″ vertical phone screen; OnX gives you the ability to download prior to leaving so you dont use your data; SDGF may also, not too sure

It has to be the regular mapping card and not the plus card with the satellite image overlay. They sacrificed the medium and small roads for the satellite data. I bought a Helix 7 for my atv/snowmobile and then realized my full-size SD cards would not work. It requires the mini SD cards. So I wanted to try one of the plus cards anyway and they came in the mini SD cards. So much for that plan. It would still work on the lake but I need all the mapping data (roads) for the trails. Much of the data between the lakes is not there.
