I have one in my dreams every night.

My long time dream came true a couple of weeks ago.
I hope there are other owners on here to ask with question and such.

What engine? I don’t own an RP, but I’ve spent hundreds of hours in a few of them. The 175hp sportjet had several issues that once rectified made it a much better motor. A few of the issues: Cooling lines were not designed well and had 90 degree turns which caused sand/silt to clog up the passages which causes overheating. The internal roller bearings on the engine are made with plastic cages, be very careful if you overheat it, those cages will melt causing engine failure. The steering cable on some RP’s are routed near the engine exhaust and can melt. Just a few things to consider. Overall they are great boats, but the Sportjet is quirky for sure and these boats demand quite a bit more of maintenance to keep them in top condition. I would also suggest upgrading to a stainless impeller. Especially if fishing silty rivers such as the mn or lower miss.

If you know Bob Bowman from the site, he has one. I think his has a 200 hp Merc engine too. He can also give you great advise on Loans. He works for Wings Financial Credit Union in the Twin Cities.
