I just started ice fishing on the river this year, and have been out to the St. Croix by Bayport a few times. I have picked up a couple walleyes in 24 fow, but am wondering if walleyes will move into shallower water to feed at night on the river? I have marked quite a few fish on the bottom that will not bite, so I am just wondering what depth of water I should concentrate on for the evening bite.
I see some large villages of houses on the WI side, but I would rather get skunked than fish in the middle of that mess. So I am just trying to figure out what the walleye movement is like on the river during the winter months.
Thanks
