Gonna need to get away for a weekend end of May, early June. Any interest in a gtg around redwing area? That hotel BK promotes nowadays looks good. Harbor bar has a couple things I’d like to see again.

Shoot to head of lake for early trolling, plenty of fish in river if that suits better.

    What say you IDOers?

Let us know when you get some dates figured out. My May and June are pretty full but it is full of fishing so I would just need to change the location and species.

Get a date put together and I’ll see what I can do. I wouldn’t mind an excuse to get out there. Memorial weekend and the first weekend in June is out for me, however…

Even if a few boats show up for a day trip, or a lunch and beer somewhere. Nice putting faces and avatar names together.

May 19. Week after MN opener. Hopefully all the lake people will desert the river and it will be peaceful again.

Not gonna deal with sleeping arrangements or call motels ahead of time. I looked on MN dnr tourney list and didn’t see any shown down there for that weekend.

Have room in my boat for 2. Might be at Watergate by that time so we can just lock ourselves down there Friday.

I could maybe see about meeting up…nothing currently sticks out in my mind as being on the calendar for that weekend.

The May willows shoreline bite can be great for multi-species action during that timeframe as well if the water is up. I fish the lower end of the lake a whole lot more than the upper end, so it’d be a good learning experience to troll those flats at the head and see what’s around.

May 19 would work great for me Nick. Plus I’ll jump in your boat (if you’ll let me) crazy

I’d be ok if we did end up staying at Parkway Motel Saturday night. Might be fun to make a little weekend trip out of it.

    Where art thou Mr.iowaboy?

Mr.Holst has written extensively on that willow bite in past reports and would love to see what that’s all about Bucky

Interested but not confident I can make it, end of the school year is always bonkers for us. I probably would not spend the night but would be game for a long day on the water.

That’s what, like a 50 mile run down river? 2 locks and 4 no-wakes between there and Pepin? It’s your time and your gas brother, but why not just trailer it at Watergate and make the 1 hour drive?

May 19th might work for me, I could probably convince the wife to make it my birthday activity…Checked the WI DNR site and there’s a bass tournament that weekend, so it shouldn’t be too crowded.

Gingerly floating downstream on a sunny day with cocktail in hand for a few hours isn’t a burden, sounds like f’in heaven to me.

I hear that. I enjoy a good float down the river but when I have a fishing spot to get to I try to take the quickest route possible to give me more fishing time. But if this is a getaway for you I can see how a relaxing Friday floating down stream would be glorious. Enjoy it.

Let me know the locked in date and I’ll see what I can do for and early dinner at the Harbor Bar. They can feed 2000 in a day so I’m guessing we’ll be a breeze.

If we bring in our own fish, we could have a walleye fry…otherwise it’s cod.

I’ll be down there anytime (except over the May 8 wk because of the FW’s date at the hospital).

I’m sure that Angie will be happy to have folks at the Parkway or Super 8. Both are very close to the Bay Point free launch.

If I recall BK the harbor bar has rentable dock parking for overnight?

How’s taxi service at night down there?

Taxi Service is very good. They just started Lyft but don’t know much about that. It gets a little bogged down at bar close but just plan for it.

There’s docking at three marinas, The Harbor and two others just downstream but before the bridge for fishing boats.

That would easily handle the people who frequently post here. But if all the IDO lurkers showed up to eat as well, they could never feed them all )

Evan, Kellie is serving our beer too!

I look at the coolers at the Harbor and wonder if there’s a beer he doesn’t stock.

I didn’t know we had a beer! I just figured that was the only beer you allowed to be drank within a 5 mile radius of you so that is why I drink it….I am a “cavalier of beers” guy….Keystone Light )

If only those couple of Hamms rows could be ousted to make more room for the top-shelf Old Milwaukee…then they’d have something.

I ran through a mess of those Surly Citras from 10am to dark a few summers back on P4. It was a 90 degree day party barge run from Alma, WI to Red Wing(wasn’t driving), and estimate I lost 2-3 years off my life.

Great selection there though. If you can’t wet your whistle with something out of those coolers, what could you possibly drink?

I saw Summit EPA’s (good) but also Surly Furious. That’s a knockdown even without any Crown Apple.

Nick, thinking after a hard day of fishing and then dinner and a night at the “Roxbury”…err Harbor…we’ll be wanting that shuttle to the Parkway. toast

Funny though we’re planning a fishing event down on the river and BK posts 6 pictures of Harbor Bar beer coolers. Huh…? smile

man it would be awesome to fish a river again, especially with you guys !
it is going to take a miracle for me to get there as this is my busy time of year.
between my full time job, maintaining three jump planes as well as several ag planes and working on boats part time there isnt much me time left over.

our vacation is in june so that is cutting it close for us as well.
to make matters worse I found out that my stepson who is in the Army national guard is leaving for Kosovo next week for a month.

this is his first deployment away from the states into a foreign country, please mention him in your prayers along with all of our men and women in the armed services.

thanks guys,if I can make it will be last minute notice.
