I have been a member here for a long time now. During that time you could ALWAYS count on reports on river conditions, the bite, baits to use ect. Those reports & tips came from the guys associated with Everts. Dean Marshall, Steve Vick, BK, River Rat Randy and others I’m forgetting (sorry), did a great job keeping us informed on what was going on down there on a weekly and sometimes daily basis. Since for whatever reasons those guys aren’t there anymore and there seems to be a lack of info coming out these days. My question, is there any guides working out of there anymore or any guides here willing to share some info on a regular basis? If you are hooked up with a different resort thats ok to, I’m more interested in whats happening on the river then whats going on at Everts.

I’d like to hear some reports and stories other then “is the ramp open.”

    Thanks guys.

Other than the flow changing from season to season or week to week I dont think much has changed. They are going to put the feed bag on in the fall and some fish will start migrating back towards the dam. In the spring we are all aware of what will happen…..I think people are just sick of social media and everyone looking for a handout and not willing to put the time in. Just my two cents. The main thing you need to know is are the ramps open ????

I feel like a huge chunk of the posts on this site is info on the the ‘sip or st croix, whether it’s pros or just experienced fellas like mike w or buschman or BK or fishblood or Steve root, the list goes on. Thousands of hours of collective river experience between guys who frequent this site.

Got a question? Ask and it’ll be answered in my experience. I’ve got a loooong ways to go but have learned a lot about the river here.

This isn’t really a fishing site anymore.
Its a site for a few “Experts-on-Everything” to argue about stuff.

Plenty of guides on pool 4 but im assuming with the hours these guys put in they dont spend much time online..
Most of them seem to be on the water before the sun comes up and in the fish cleaning shack at sunset everyday of the week.

Marty Hahn, Denver, Jeremiah Luemann, Jeremy Shreiner & Turk all come to mind and there is probably more..

Ive been out a few times in the last week and the bite is great.

Fall ice is so much easier to deal with than spring ice.

I always appreciated the constant updates from BK, RRR (along w others) and Everts on here, so I would always buy my bait, a few extra lures and launch there. Since none of those guys are associated anymore and Everts/4Seasons rarely if ever posts, I see no need to stop in either. My .02

Im confused? You stop using a baitshop because they dont post reports on IDO?? Where do you buy your bait? I dont see any baitshop in the U.S. leaving reports on IDO for any body of water?

There’s about 16 bait shops between my house and P4, along with 2 free launches in MN that are closer for me. If Everts isn’t advertising a reason for me to pass those things to go to Everts, why would I?

Here I am guys. I have posted reports every 7 to 10 days the past month or so. It’s a fine line….why is Everts always promoting this fishery so much, all the fish are being killed…..why do they never post ….
The truth is every time I post with any pertinent information the heat I receive from the arm chair biologists and the guys who own the river. Hard to please. So here is the deal:
I am happy to answer any question about the bite, levels, baits etc at anytime. I am trying to post on a regular basis and I will continue to do so, especially when there are major changes. Guys, we are just trying to make an honest living and please all of our customers on both sides of the spectrum. If any of you are headed down give us a call and we will give you the most current information we have.

    Today’s report:
The bite is great. Hair jigs, plastics, blades and stickbaits are producing large #s of fish.not many big fish yet but nice 16 to 20″ fish are very common. I don’t mean for this to be a generic report but honestly however you like to catch them will work.

How about a break and just take a second to get to know us. Nobody likes change, we get it, but if you have been to the resort you can see the massive improvements.

They may not post a ton on this site, but I know guys like Turk and Denver give pretty detailed reports on their own websites every week.

To each his own, but im not going to stop in the cities to buy my bait and ask for an up to date mudflat report on my way up to Mille lacs. I will stop in at Nittis, spend a few bucks and pump George for info. And I havent seen a mille lacs report on here from a resort, ever..

Thanks for the report. I don’t know all the characters that reported previously, nor do I really care why they choose not to anymore. But they would report good and bad and, perhaps more importantly, all the happenings at Everts from improvements to events. So more of that is all I’d request.

post reports and they will come. Just like feild of dreams. Sure is that way on pool 2. Post a bunch of reports and you will have plenty of friends to fish your favorite spots with.

On the other hand it is nice to show off your catch to someone.

Everts, do you have any licensed guides working out of the resort? Contact info?

Been a few years, but when I asked the same question a couple years ago I was given contact info for Marty Hahn. Had a great day on the water with him and have referred him to others…

Guys, we are just trying to make an honest living and please all of our customers on both sides of the spectrum.

As long as we’re being honest here, I didn’t experience issues as described above, with the exception from one fella that felt I was showing too much background in the report photos. Heck there were people sending info and photos in to be posted (without being paid).

One point I can’t say enough about is the Rodney (the owner) and Ski have really done and outstanding job on improving the much needed updating of the cabins. Well most of them and last I heard they are working toward updating all of them. Lots of improvements here…

Call ahead? Yes because a person never knows if the bait shop will be open. The hours posted aren’t strictly followed. Knowledge in the bait shop has decreased and prices have increased. Stop in sometime and form your own opinion.

    Your mileage may vary.

Check out Marty Hahn’s website he usually posts a report everyday if he’s been fishing. He’s in my opinion the best guide on Pool 3&4 along with Denver McKinnon.

I hired Denver 2 years ago. Awesome experience! He answered every question I had and I had a lot of them. Caught a bunch of fish too. Highly recommended

Another vote for Marty. Hired him a couple of years ago when I was just getting started on the river.

As for everts, I was in there last weekend and the guy was hassling me in a good way about asking about the bite and how all guys ask the same questions. After a little trash talking he have me the color to focus on. No spots, just the color. I would’ve never used the color so it was great advice. We limited out using plastics in that color.

I’ll remember that exchange and spend my money in there.

I’m looking forehead to staying in a cabin this winter. January 18-20.

Anybody new to the river should launch that weekend for our entertainment.

Might be expensive staying 10′ from the bait shop )

Edit: please don’t have any limit Creek rods in stock lol

Oh man, I could bring my boat and the POS trailer it’s on. THAT would be a show to remember if there is any current whatsoever. Add in a little ice on the ramp and it’s easily a 3 or 4 beer affair.

Does Everts have a PA system? Have them play this at the same time for added effect:
