Walleyestudent and myself will be showing up dockside in the Phantom at 6.

…..and we’ll be bringing in our WI limit of 25 cats each. 50 catfish oughta be enough to feed the group. That’ll be our contribution.

We decided that BK can clean them all for us, that can be his contribution.

We know how he doesn’t like to keep any cats. <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>Walleye cheeks…ya, cats…no.

Catfish sounds good, but not those nasty channel cats. I’d prefer you to bring 25 flatheads a piece. smash

I forgot…if you noodle them for harvest I have heard the meat stays “whiter” and the taste is that much better than wasting time with a hook and line.

Andy will be noodling the WI side in the main channel just below the high bridge. I hear he’s quite the swimmer, so I have faith.

I didn’t know that Andy was a good swimmer, but his dad had some.

What time are you guys going to be on the water/at the bar? Might be able to grab a couple of hours in the afternoon to head over. Might also be able to get down early Sunday morning – like 0700. I assume you’ll be shaking the cobwebs loose about then.

I had the purrfect cat to have for dinner at the Harbor. 8 pounds, but I just couldn’t do it… It’s going to be cod for me.

Nick thought about having this walleye at the Harbor for dinner.

He just couldn’t do it though. He’s having chicken instead.

Ma and I rousted BK out of his camper this AM. I thought we’d find him at the Harbor making sure the Hamm’s was cold, but no, he was hiding in the camper.

Nice meeting the FW and you again Brian. Some day we’ll wet a line together and sip a cold Hamm’s. Or maybe just drink the beer, who knows what we can find to get ourselves into. Sorry to be so far ahead of the others as it would have been fun to meet a few more. Next time perhaps.

When we got back home this afternoon it was straight to the garden. Got the cukes and squash planted. Got two more rows of bush beans in the ground as well as three short rows of beets. We love the cooked greens with baby beets still attached. Tasty and healthy.

Been a good day for Ma and I. Good to be home and getting that garden stuff wrapped up. Wind has turned to the east now and the humidity is jacking right up there too so rain must not be too far in the future.

    Please, not so loud! LOL!

8 pm Txt message from FW:
5 1/2 hours at a bar is enough unless you’re doing something wrong.

9 Pm: Do I need to come and get you?

10:30 phone call: Are you coming home tonight??

It was a great time. I don’t think, NO, I know I haven’t ever had that much Hamm’s in one sitting.

Getting ready to head on over to the Spam Museum shortly. (Score!!)

The fact at almost every get together seems to revolve around the drinking really bums me out. I’d very much like to go to these, but I wouldn’t want to drag everybody down by not drinking and being on everyone else’s “level”(I’m in recovery). It’s simply not much fun for either party when everyone is buzzed up or drunk and you’re not. I could at least fish at the same time as everyone else, but I feel like the meeting and mingling is the main event. By no means am I saying others need to change their ways to accommodate me, just that it saddens me when the main topic of discussion after these GTGs is how much fun we had drinking and how much we drank and how sick we are the next mornings. Trust me, I know a little too well how much fun alcohol can be, but your perspective changes quite a bit once it has negatively affected your life in one way or another and you’re done with it. Anyways, hope a few fish were caught at least!

The guys on this board that I know are very respective of those of us who drink very little or not at all. The thing with a GTG is if you all meet before fishing you don’t get to talk much before going out. If you meet afterward you have the opportunity to talk to as many people as you want. If that includes a soda or water or beer thats up to everybody to decide.

Don’t let a couple of guys having a couple beers keep you away. There are lots of guys who don’t drink.

I know exactly how you feel, I stayed out of a bar for 3 months when I quit smoking.

@ AUTO-5, I dont drink and always have fun at the Get Togethers,my problem is I wish people would show up earlier,my kids sometimes come with the wife and I to these and their waiting patients are still short lived.

I enjoy putting faces to names during these events but I think this get together was poorly planned on the starting time.

From the outside looking in (I didn’t go) I don’t think it was poorly planned. Just a real informal type of gathering. More of a “we will be here at x time for anybody who wants to meet”.

I don’t know how many actually showed up but I was surprised at the amount of interest shown. waytogo

I’m sure fun was had by all who met up there. grin

Trumar, I was also disappointed that there were some of you that came and left by the time I got there. I was hoping to meet you and some others as well.

Nick and I planned on going down to fish the river and thought it would be fun for us to have a GTG afterwards. Turned out we didn’t get on the water until afternoon and planned on meeting for dinner…which we did.

Sometimes it is better to have a more concrete set time but then again, it does come down to who can make it at that set time. If we try again…and I think we should, we can plan for a more set time.

I think you’re over-interpreting the drinking references on this thread. If you’re imagining it was like a Frat or bachelor party, it was far from that.

Basically it was a few of us that got together for a few beers and some food while we visited and shared stories. It was a fun day for me.

And yes, there were a few fish caught at least. I got this nice catfish. wink

How did everyone else do, as far as the fishing goes?

My spring has been topsy turvy at best so planning wasn’t high on the priority list. Honestly few days prior it seemed like me and Andy may have been knocking on BKs camper all by ourselves looking for a party shock jester

The baton of planning will definitely be passed on next round. Simply our loss for not getting to see some of ya. Alot of respect for the “old timers” who have more experience and stories to tell than my butt ever hopes to have.

I did get to relax, run to the head of lake for first time, drink some beer, good food, good laughs, and some inspiration for skeg conditioning from redneck Jr for my boat peace
