That is a legend among legends. RIP Ron Linder. I remember reading all the Linder Media I could as a kid. I really looked up to the Linder’s as the example of the good guys in the industry.

He made so many contributions and really put life in the fishing industry through fishing tournaments and educational magazines/tv shows. Lost a legend.

We sure did. I remember a great episode with Al in a scuba outfit jumping into the guest’s boat telling him it’s a jig bite. The guest is catching nothing and Al grabs his rod, changes to a jig and catches a fish with every cast. It was hilarious

Legend simply does not quite do him justice, the man was a titan among mere mortals, an icon in an industry that he helped shape with respect, dignity, and honor. If you took the time to watch him and Al you not only became a better fishermen, you became a better person for having been able to watch them share their passion with you. I’m grateful for all of the wisdom and joy that he was able to share with us in his lifetime. RIP Ron, may you find your peaceful rest on a lake somewhere with the loons calling, the sun setting, and a big fish on the line. Condolences to his family and friends.

For some of us, speaking for myself still remember the beginning back in the early 1970’s. I was just a kid back then but gobbled up their early promotions, shows and magazines.

Ron and Al began with a show and sharing information that of which had never truly been revealed or shared before to the growing audience. Such then was the origins of In-Fishermen. It took off beyond what even they could have dreamed at the time.

If any have followed their story, Al was the front man and face of the whole production but it was Ron that was the genius behind it all and did more behind the curtain to build them into a media icon.

I still have some old In-Fishermen VHS tapes. Problem is I no longer have a VHS player. sad

Certainly sad that he has passed on.

For anyone who does not have a copy of this book…’First Light on the Water’, I would highly suggest you own one.

For the inspiration that the Lindner’s and now as much Ron Lindner shared can truly be appreciated.

Loved it when he called his brother, Alfonse, on the shows as he sat in the back of the boat.
