One of my all-time favorites, Gordon Lightfoot, dead at 84. Got absolute chills the first time I heard “The Wreck…” when I was a little kid and my Dad explained what it was all about – and I’ve been a fan ever since. Still get chills when I hear that song and the rest of his stuff is just great cabin music. Will have a Gord playlist going for opener this year, for sure! Sad day, especially for Canada, that guy’s a hero up there.

It’s a sad day. RIP Gordon. I’m from western NY, minutes from the shore of Lake Ontario (Gordon lived across the lake in Toronto) Many of his songs hit home to me. Give Restless a listen. If you’re from the great lake’s regions, this song will make you feel a certain way.

I had “Go My Way” in my wedding way back, one of my all time favorite singers.

Sundown is my personal favorite. Honestly thought The Wreck was his only notable song until I recently started listening to more of his work, fantastic song writer.

Lots of good Saturday, Sunday afternoon relaxing songs. Rainy day people is another good one. He did have a few tree hugger songs that I wasn’t a big fan of but the other work more than made up for it.

I have my Dad’s “Sundown” vinyl LP from the 70s in my basement bar and spin it every now and then while sippin’ on a bourbon.

RIP Gordon. No wonder the “Gales of November came early” this week.

Gordy is definitely one of my all time favorites. Canadian Railroad trilogy is awesome. People only know him for the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald but he’s got a pile of good songs. If you liked him you owe it to yourself to check out a guy named Stan Rogers. Another Canadian folk singer, and very much underappreciated. Check out Make and Break Harbour, the Mary Ellen Carter, or Fogarty’s Cove.
