Sorry to hear about the loss of a longtime friend. That loss is never easy, but a sudden death can be preferable to a prolonged death. No memories of hospitals and agony to cloud the memories of the good times. Hang on to those good memories, that is the best way you can honor your friend.
He definitely looks like a fella whose company I would have enjoyed.

but a sudden death can be preferable to a prolonged death.

100% True. It doesnt make it easy, but a long agonizing one sucks to watch. My mom was in at home hospice for months and it tore me apart. I would visit all the time and my angel of a wife was off during the summer so she could spend time with her and really help my dad. I kick myself that I wasnt there when she passed, but my dad and wife both were.

The one thing with a sudden death is not being able to see them to say “Goodbye”!!

Thanks-and I am glad he did not have a long painful death.

He was a older guy from I. Falls, worked as a janitor at my school. When we would take a trip up north he would tell the same stories over and over, that never bothered me it was part of the ritual, lunch at the same place, get some beer, get some bait-sad. Anyway just appreciate the older people in your life, be grateful for every trip, sounds so cliche’

    Sorry for your loss, Tim.

My wife and I were just having this conversation last night as a friend of ours was just admitted to hospice.

The answer is, sudden or slow, both hurt the same.

    Sorry my friend.

Glad I posted, you all have been great-just have never had a friend pass.
Oddly the thing I’ll miss the most was all the sh** he would give me about various things, nothing like a crotchity Polish guy from up north for that duty!
