Rigging troubles

First time poster, long time reader. I’m rigging a fishfinder in the front of my boat. I spliced the power cord into my dash fishfinder power which goes into the fuse box which goes to the cranking battery. The battery is good and I have 12.6V at the plug. The problem is that the fishfinder gage only reads 10.1V and it shuts itself down shortly after starting up. I tried my dash fishfinder and it did the same thing. I’m pretty new at this stuff, anybody have any ideas? Thanks

Most fishfinder power cords use very small gauge wire, barely enough to live on. I’d dis-connect your new bow unit from the dash units wiring, and wire them both separately to your panel, or directly to the battery if your panel is suspect.

If you had to add wire to reach your power supply add heavier gauge wire and solder the connections.
