Rigging power wires

In WX-series boats, are there any power lines pre-wired for installation of rear displays? Ie., I’m planning to mount a Helix unit on the gunnel near the rear deck.

When I look back inside the walls from the port rod locker I can see the loose end of a black wire attached to one of the rigging blocks near the pop-up cleat. Is that a ground wire? If so, where is the white/power wire?

If there’s no power lines pre-run there, what’s the best path to run them to the accessory block under the console?

    Thanks for any insights!

I have never seen any acc leads back there. Anytime we have rigged a locator over there we have ran the power wires directly to the battery.

If you wanted to go up to the console it will be easiest to go back through the bilge area then up all the side on the starboard side. There isn’t a good way to cut across the boat at the consoles.

thanks, Eric. curious…it comes out of the same conduit that protects the power line for the courtesy light. it’s just a (literal) loose end, maybe just an extra ground or something ran by mistake.

my cranking battery is under the port jump seat, so literally one foot away from where i’ll install this unit so, yeah, i’ll probably just go there for power.
but i will still have to run a network cable to the 5-port box under the driver’s console but that shouldn’t be too hard: my current plan is to run the lines forward inside the gunnel to the passenger console, across the back of the shelf, across/through the rod locker, and to the driver’s console shelf where the 5-port and accessory blocks are located. i’ve already got some access holes installed between the inside front of the rod locker and console shelves.

at what amount of draw should i be considering a house battery?
once i add the new unit it would be powering:
    – Boat accessories and lights
    – 999 SI
    – 1199 SI
    – Helix 5
    – Helix 12 SI
    – 5-port Hub

If that courtesy light still works I am unsure what it would be. If that light doesn’t work I would guess it belongs on the light. It may be an extra ground wire that would be used in a different model boat. They use some of the same harness’s for different boats and not all wires are used all the time. That’s my only logical thinking of it.

Being you are running just mostly electronics I think you would be fine with just the one battery. I would maybe error on the side of caution and maybe upgrade the size of the battery.

From what we have seen once you start adding the power poles/talons and 360 stuff ect is when we really want to start looking at house battery. Also the onix units seem to draw a lot more power than the core units and a couple of them with some of the added acc gets close to wanted a house battery.

As long as you keep up with the charging on the battery I think you should be fine with just the one starting battery. With that said, if you plan to have all 4 units, radio, livewells running etc all day and not running the big motor very much you could run into a possible issue after a 10 or 12 hour day on the water but I think that would be an extreme case.

Eric I am putting on a house batt. also. I have a 300 offshore, what do you think of using the Yamaha cable for charging the house batt. I believe Sooceye is using one w/o any problems. anyone else using the Yamaha charinge cable to charge starting and house batt.???? will my on board MK charger work to charge both starting and house or do you put jumpers on the starting to get it charged
    thanks

on Yamaha motors of 150hp and up, it looks like there is a second set of leads from the motor that will charge the house battery with the alternator?

that’s a nice feature. the big downside is that it only works when the motor is running, so just like my starting battery i would still want it connected to an onboard charger when i’m off the lake.
