So I am within a month of ordering me a new Lund. I have been shopping around and have found a good dealer and have got all the options that I want in order. Here is the thing I am wanting a new humminbird helix 10 si on the boat hooked into the terrova 80 ipilot link but the new line of helix’s (9s, 10s, and 12s) will not be available through the Lund factory until April. I can walk into bass pro right now and buy any of them right off the shelf so why can’t I get them on my new boat? You would think that the boat manufacturers would be the ones to get them first not the other way around. My dealer said that they would put one on for me after they received it from the factory but that will end up costing me a bit more and delay the date when the boat is ready. I would just think that Lund would do more for you when you are spending 40+ thousand on a new boat. Ok rant over.

Is all the option Rigging being done at lund or is some being done at the dealer? I’d think the dealer should have access to the Helix and would be more than willing to rig it for you. I know if I was spending 40+ thousand on a boat and the dealer I was buying from would not work a deal with me on something like this I’d be going to a new dealer to get my boat.

Yes the dealer will do that while they are setting the boat up but still doesn’t make sense to me why the Lund factory can’t do it. In the end I will still get the finder I want it may just cost a bit more and take a little longer to get my boat but that is ok because everything will still be frozen anyways.

I contacted a fried at Lund, this was their response:

Humminbird has chosen to release the new models to the “big box stores” before they release it to the boat manufactures. I have no idea why but this is what I am being told.

Either way, we don’t install the locators so it would ship loose in the boat and the dealer would be
    doing the install.

It seems like the dealer is doing the install anyway, not sure why the price would be more? Maybe offer to the dealer to buy it yourself, and pay them to install?

If it were me I would just want the boat pre rigged and wired to my spec and I would buy actual unit myself. That way if there was a problem, Lund wouldn’t be involved with any possible warrenty issues not to mention, bet you can find one sooner…. and cheaper.
    Just my opinion.

If you can swing it you need to simply buy the unit from the store and bring it to the dealer for the install. Don’t skimp on what you want when buying new or you will regret it later!
